The Self-Assessment component of the QA Program helps registrants evaluate their professional knowledge and skills and develop a plan to maintain and enhance their competence. It is designed to work alongside the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) component, where the professional goals created will guide participation in relevant CPD activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REQUIREMENTS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are several ways for registrants to participate in Self-Assessment based on their certificate type and the stage of their professional career. Please review the QA Participation Requirements to determine what mechanism of Self-Assessment is required for your Certificate Type\/Status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SELF-ASSESSMENT GUIDE AND INSTRUCTIONS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Self-Assessment Guide (SAG) is the tool which most registrants are required to complete to fulfill their Self-Assessment obligations. The tool is updated annually and made available by May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are required to complete the SAG, you must do so between May 1 and June 30 during the last year of your cycle. You will be notified once the updated SAG is available for download.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Self-Assessment<\/h3>
\n\n

Reflect on your current levels of knowledge and skill by reviewing legislation, standards and ethical codes for your profession, and identify any gaps that need attention.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

2. Professional Development Plan (PDP)<\/h3>
\n

Based on your reflections, create a PDP which includes SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound) goals to address identified knowledge gaps and expand your professional skills. Your PDP will guide your CPD participation during your next 2-year cycle to help you achieve your goals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

3. Self-Care Plan<\/h3>
\n

Review factors that may impact your professional wellness and assess how they affect your ability to practise. Identify self-care activities to help reduce negative impacts.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

4. Declaration of Completion<\/h3>
\n

After completing your self-assessment, submit a Declaration of Completion through the Member Portal<\/a> by June 30 of the required year. You do not need to submit your completed guide with the Declaration.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

5. Monitor Progress<\/h3>
\n

Review your PDP throughout your 2-year cycle to track progress towards your goals and reflect on any new knowledge or skills gained. You may need to update the plan as learning goals and practice needs change.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

6. Record Keeping<\/h3>
\n

Keep records of your Quality Assurance activities, including your completed Self-Assessment Guide, for at least 5 years. CPBAO may request these records if you are selected for an audit or assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
