{"id":18058,"date":"2024-10-31T20:19:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T00:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/?p=18058"},"modified":"2025-03-14T08:42:08","modified_gmt":"2025-03-14T12:42:08","slug":"quality-assurance-news-october-2024-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/fr\/quality-assurance-news-october-2024-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Quality Assurance (QA) Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"953\" src=\"https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/QA-News-4-1600x953.jpg?wsr\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18095\" style=\"width:379px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/QA-News-4-1600x953.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/QA-News-4-800x477.jpg 800w, https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/QA-News-4-768x457.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/QA-News-4-1536x915.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cpbao.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/QA-News-4-2048x1220.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>First Quarter June 1, 2024 \u2013 August 31, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>COMMITTEE ACTIVITY<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first quarter, panels of the Quality Assurance Committee continued to address registrant-specific matters related to participation in the Quality Assurance Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee will reconvene in the second quarter to continue its work in revising the content and structure of the Quality Assurance Program to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a>Combine the Self-Assessment Guide and Continuing Professional Development mechanisms into a single tool to allow for ongoing progress monitoring and reflection;<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simplify the process for registrant review of relevant legislative, regulatory and ethical standards; and,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve the process by which registrants are selected to participate in the more intensive Peer Assisted Review program, focusing support on those most in need of assistance or exhibiting difficulty maintaining their professional knowledge, skill and judgment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>REGISTRANT MATTERS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-Assessment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No self-assessment matters were considered during the first quarter. However, the Committee began the process of reviewing registrants\u2019 2024 <em>Self-Assessment Guide and Continuing Professional Development Plan <\/em>(SAG) documents in September, to verify completion of the self-assessment requirements for those that failed to submit a mandatory SAG Declaration of Completion on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing Professional Development<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A panel of the Committee considered one (1) random selection <em>Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD) <\/em>audit, carried over from the previous cycle. The Panel did not identify any concerns with the registrant\u2019s completion of the CPD Program requirements and decided to take no further action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registrants that failed to submit a mandatory CPD Declaration of Completion for the July 1, 2022 \u2013 June 30, 2024 cycle have been notified of their non-random selection for auditing. In addition, the Committee\u2019s annual process of conducting random CPD audits has now begun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interim Autonomous Practice Registrant CPD\/SAG Participation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee reminds individuals holding a Certificate of Registration Authorizing Interim Autonomous Practice (IAP) that they must also submit mandatory Quality Assurance Declarations of Completion when prompted, regardless of the duration of their registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Declaration options are provided for IAP registrants to attest that they have maintained compliance with the SAG and CPD requirements of their home jurisdiction, in lieu of completing the College\u2019s programming. However, if an IAP registrant\u2019s home regulator does not require similar SAG or CPD participation, the registrant must complete the College\u2019s requirements and submit the standard Declaration options, as all other registrants must do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Peer Assisted Reviews<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee considered one (1) Peer Assisted Review report during the first quarter and was satisfied with the information which demonstrated the registrant\u2019s adherence to professional standards. The review process was concluded without further action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee continues to seek College Assessors to assist with the Peer Assisted Review program.
