Annual Renewal
Registrants must renew their certificate each year through the Member Portal to maintain or update their registration status. The renewal period runs from mid-March to June 1. Learn more.
Requesting a certificate change
If you’re planning to switch your registration status (Inactive, Retired, etc.), please submit the online at least 60 days in advance. See registration options.
Adding a new practice area or client group (51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø)
If you’re an Autonomous Practice (AP) 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø registrant and want to add a new area of practice or a client group, you must complete the necessary training and supervision to ensure your competency is comparable to that of other CPBAO registrants practicing in that area.

Autonomous Practice (AP) Psychological Associates Applying for Registration as Psychologists
AP Psychological Associates who later earn a doctoral degree in psychology may apply for registration as Psychologists. See the application form and guidelines.
Removing or modifying a Term, Condition, or Limitation
AP registrants with a term, condition or limitation on their certificate may apply to have it removed or modified. See the application form and guidelines.
Mobility – 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø
AP psychology registrants who plan to practice psychology in another jurisdiction in Canada or the United States should be aware of the following mobility provisions:

Name Changes
CPBAO maintains a so members of the public and employers can find information about registrants, including current registration status, employment, language of service, and discipline history. Registrants are responsible for ensuring their information on file, including their name, is accurate and up to date.
Inform CPBAO within 30 Days
If your name changes for any reason, the College By-laws require you to inform CPBAO within 30 days. This includes:
- assuming a spouse’s name due to marriage
- resuming a previous name due to separation or divorce
- any other legal name changes
Supporting Documentation
A name change request must include supporting documentation that confirms the registrant has validly changed their name. A record of the name change will be kept in your file. On the Public Register, you will be searchable by both your legal name and any previous names.
To notify us, download and complete the Name Change Request Form and submit it, along with the supporting documentation, to cpbao@cpbao.ca.
Requesting a Verification of Registration
Registrants who plan to register in another jurisdiction may need to request an official verification of their registration with CPBAO.
To request a verification, email cpbao@cpbao.ca with a written request that includes any blank verification form required by the other jurisdiction, and the full name and contact information of the other regulatory board.
CPBAO charges a $25.00 administrative fee.
Requests are typically completed within 10 business days.
