Assurance de la Qualité

The Quality Assurance (QA) Program is designed to ensure registrants remain competent in their practice of psychology or applied behaviour analysis. The QA Program consists of 3 components, which promote ongoing evaluation, maintenance of competence and monitoring of professional knowledge, skill and judgment.

  • Self-Assessment
Self-reflection is an important tool for evaluating your practice and identifying opportunities to maintain and improve competence. There are several ways for registrants to participate in self-assessment based on the stage of their professional career and certificate type, with most required to complete the Self-Assessment Guide (SAG). Learn more about Self-Assessment.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
To support continued competence and quality improvement in areas relevant to your practice, you must participate in CPD activities as required. CPD helps remedy gaps in knowledge and skills identified through your self-assessment, address changes in practice environments, and incorporate updates to standards of practice and advances in technology. Learn more about CPD.
  • Peer Assisted Review (if applicable)
To assess registrant knowledge, skill and judgment, you may be selected for a comprehensive practice review conducted by a CPBAO-appointed Assessor. Learn more about Peer Assisted Reviews.

Registrants are assigned to two-year QA cycles based on their registration number and must complete the QA Program requirements applicable to their certificate type or status during their assigned cycle. Cycles run from July 1 to June 30, two years later.

  • Registrants with numerically even registration numbers participate in cycles that begin and end on even-numbered years (e.g., July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2026).
  • Registrants with numerically odd registration numbers participate in cycles that begin and end on odd-numbered years (e.g., July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027).

Your Certificate Type or Status will determine your Self-Assessment and CPD participation requirements for your current QA cycle.
