Peer Assisted Review

Registrants may be selected to participate in a PAR by:

  • Random or stratified random sampling;
  • Failing to participate in Self-Assessment and submit a Declaration of Completion; or
  • Targeted selection to follow up on concerns identified during a previous audit or assessment

Reviews may be conducted in-person or virtually and will include a structured interview, which covers up to 7 domains based upon a registrant’s professional services and activities:

  1. Practice Setting
  2. Professional Services
  3. Ethical Conduct
  4. Indirect Service Provision
  5. Record Keeping
  6. File Review
  7. Self-Assessment and Continuing Professional Development

Following the review meeting, the Assessor will submit a written report to CPBAO with an opinion on whether the registrant meets professional standards across the relevant domains.

The Reviewee will also receive a copy of the report and may prepare a written submission in response, for consideration by the QA Committee. After reviewing the report and any submissions from the Reviewee, the Committee may take steps to address any outstanding concerns, as appropriate.

If you have any questions about the PAR process, please contact the QA team at qualityassurance@cpbao.ca.
